Ping. The notifications are ceaseless and sharp. Each pricks me like a splinter crying to be given attention. But my mind has become numb from being spread so thin. I’ve hit my limit.
I get up from my desk and find myself reaching for my jacket, lacing up my shoes. As I step outside, I am hit with the brisk clean winter air. Each breath fills my lungs with cool fresh air, tuning the static in my mind to crystal clarity.

My feet carry me along the tree-lined path near my house and each footstep becomes a sentence in my therapy session. Time begins to move at nature’s pace as the sounds of notifications are replaced with the soft whispers of pine trees swaying in a gentle breeze that is muffled by blankets of snow. In this quiet, my tangled thoughts begin to settle like fresh snowflakes on the forest floor.
Fifteen minutes is all it took to find peace. Nothing about my workload changed, but my tasks have frozen back into proper perspective.
Nature reset me.
I am ready to begin again.
