“The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.” – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I would add something to the American Poet’s urging: And be free enough to the be the one dancing in the rain.

Oxygen, nourishment, & water are the 3 needs to sustain life. It sounds so blah when it’s put that way, but the truth of life is everyone needs air to breath (so protect our forests!), everyone needs food to eat (so help ensure Earth stays fertile), and everyone needs water to drink (so protect our rivers & lakes). It’s interesting that you don’t often hear people complaining that the air is too fresh today or there are too many options for food, but it is common to hear people complaining about the rain!

When the rain falls on a forest, it cleans the leaves and blades of grass, washing the grime of daily life away. As the grime and water run down, it carries the burden from the forest. The forest floor takes that grime and water and uses them to create a fertile ground to provide nourishment to the forest.

What happens to you when you take the time to stand in the rain? As the raindrops fall on your head, you can take a lesson from the forest and allow it to lighten your burdens. Standing in the rain and being present will allow you to feel the raindrops hitting your body and running down carrying the grime of life with it. As each raindrop trickles to the ground, you will begin to feel the weight lighten. With that lightening, you will feel freedom raising within.

This freedom carries your spirit and opens the door to a more peaceful understanding. And if your spirit is free enough, you will find yourself dancing in the rain!
