Growth and development happen when you set a goal difficult enough where you have to work to accomplish it. If the goal is easy and you do not have to try to achieve it, it isn’t a goal. It’s a task. This goes for work-related goals, personal development goals, financial goals, weight loss goals, or any goal really.
Setting goals that are outside of your comfort zone can be a bit scary or intimidating and you might have feelings of doubt or uncertainty. “What if I fail?” “What if I make a fool of myself?” “What if I find out I can’t?” But what if you succeed?
The spoils of success are so much sweeter when you have had to scrape and scratch and claw your way through and over obstacles to reach your goal. In addition to the reward of achieving the goal, you will also have become a different person because of the struggle. A better, stronger, and more resilient person.
So be willing to be uncomfortable by setting those lofty goals. Be willing to make life an adventure of tackling these goals so that when the end is near, you will be thinking of the adventures you had; not the times you played it safe.
Adventure can happen when you’re willing to make yourself uncomfortable. Embrace the uncomfortability and you will live your adventure.
